ONE GROOVE ON HAWAII SKIN DIVER!
It's been awhile since our last update but we've been busy behind the scenes working on our sophomore album for CommonGround Records. We're more than halfway through the process and we're excited to share our new music with you all!

On another note, back in 2006 we reported that the band had spent a day with the crew from Hawaii Skin Diver TV show. Well, more than a year passed without any of the footage being aired - we'd all but given up hope that it would ever see the light of day. So you can imagine our surprise when we found out that the episode will finally make its debut this week on Oceanic Cable 16 and air for the entire month of June. Make sure to check out an episode and let us know how it is since we're all the way up here in California with no access to that station! A big mahalo to the crew of Hawaii Skin Diver - HANA PA'A!

Finally, our music will be included on two new Japanese island reggae compilations this summer... it's always been a dream of ours to tour Japan and the release of our music there is a great first step in that direction! Til next time, keep it HAWAIIAN!

HAWAII HIGHLIGHTS!
A big mahalo nui loa to our Hawaii friends and fans who came out to see us on tour! For those who missed the KCCN FM100 Birthday Bash XVI, you missed an incredible two days of island reggae music - it was an honor and a privilege to play again this year alongside some of our biggest influences. And speaking of influences, if you caught our set at Birthday Bash you got a chance to see history as we featured BROTHER NOLAND on stage with us to perform "Big Ship", our current radio single. Those from Hawaii will remember Brother Noland's rendition of this classic more than 20 years ago... we grew up listening to his music and he is sounding just as great today (if not better) as he did then. Brother Noland, God bless and mahalo again for making this trip such a memorable one.

The show at Don Ho's was crazy - Ka'ena, the boys from Waianae, came strong and rocked the crowd... Nomasterbacks followed up with their brand of hip-hop born and bred in the 808 State. They performed cuts from their forthcoming album, "At Your Door", including two songs with One Groove's own Keone and Chris Canubida. Be on the lookout for the new Nomasterbacks CD to be released this fall from CommonGround Records. One Groove finished out the night and rocked it 'til early into the next morning. Hawaii, aloha again for making this trip so memorable - we'll be doing it again soon so stay tuned!

Finally, we have two shows coming up on August 10th/11th with two of our Birthday Bash Alumni, Katchafire and Fiji! You can find more information about the shows here. Thursday night we'll be in our own backyard at Avalon in Santa Clara, CA and Friday night we'll rock Seattle, WA. Hope to see you there!

SUMMER'S HERE!
Aloha everyone, e kala mai for not updating this site with more frequency but it's been an extremely busy few months for 1G. Besides an aggressive performance schedule, we've been busy with pre-production for album #2 and collaborating on tracks for the forthcoming album from our newest labelmates Nomasterbacks. Keep an eye out for the 3rd Nomasterbacks album, tentatively titled "AT YOUR DOOR", due out in October from CommonGround Records.

And speaking of new releases, CommonGround recording artist Steven Espaniola released his debut album "Ho'omaka" on June 13th. The highly anticipated release of "Ho'omaka" has already garnered strong critical acclaim in both of Hawai'i's leading news publications... check out the Star Bulletin review of the album as well as The Honolulu Advertiser's take on Steven's debut effort - CONGRATULATIONS BRADDAH STEVEN!

On the event front, One Groove will be heading back to Hawai'i in late July for a series of shows highlighted by a performance at KCCN FM100's Birthday Bash XVI on July 28th. This will be the second Birthday Bash appearance by 1G and we are excited to play for our Hawai'i family and fans again. Stay tuned for additional 1G Hawai'i appearances and shows we're working on for that same week. Album #2 is shaping up nicely and we can't wait to share the new material with you all - mahalo for your continued support of One Groove!

1G NEWS UPDATE - April 15th, 2006
ALBUM #2!
Pre-production for our second album is in full swing... Kris & Keone have been holed up at 1G's CrossedCulture Studio for the past two months writing and arranging with the band. Every member of One Groove will contribute songs to this album and we're finding some closet composers in the ranks! The material so far is a step further into the direction we began with "Make Your Move" - island reggae music with mainstream sensibility. We're looking to take it all to the next level. More details to follow - stay tuned! We've also got a ton of shows this summer including some out of state dates, we'll share them here as we get more details.

On another note, One Groove has signed a licensing agreement with our friends at EasyTok Wireless in Honolulu. You can visit their store at Stadium Mall (next to the Ice Palace) and download 1G ringtones! Visit them at 4510 Salt Lake Blvd! We welcome EasyTok to the 1G ohana!

ONE GROOVE WELCOMES STEVEN ESPANIOLA!
We're very proud to announce a new addition to the CommonGround Records family - Steven Espaniola will join the ranks this month as One Groove's very first labelmate. Steven's debut CD, "Ho'omaka", will be released in early summer 2006 and we're excited to have front row seats at the birth of this next Hawaiian music star! Like us, Steven is a Hawaii-born transplant living and working here in the California Bay Area. He's been a great friend of ours and a seminal part of the Hawaiian music scene here for many, many years. Produced by Hawaii music legend Dave Tucciarone, "Ho'omaka" focuses Steven's arresting voice and multi-instrument talents on a selection of traditional and original Hawaiian mele. We wish Steven the best of success and welcome him as the newest member of the CommonGround roster! For more about Steven, visit him at his official MySpace site - support island music!

1G NEWS UPDATE - JULY 13th, 2005
Well, it's been a busy couple of months for the band. We just got back from Los Angeles where we did a show for Solkrush Entertainment with braddah Fiji, our boys from 3Plus, Ho'onua, and Lanai & Augie T from 98.5 FM in Honolulu (who continue to bump our music)! The sold out show at The Grove was NUTS - mahalo L.A. for giving it up for us, we hope to get down there again soon!

We fly out to Honolulu at the end of this month to perform at KCCN FM100's Birthday Bash XV - the biggest, baddest island reggae show of the year held annually at the Waikiki Shell. KCCN has been a huge supporter of our album and we're honored that they've invited us down to participate this year.

The first single from our album, "Heartache", continues to do damage on the Hawai'i charts and has enjoyed the distinction of being the #1 Hawai'i song for 10 straight weeks in a row on InterFM 76.1 in Tokyo, Japan. A big shout out to braddah Vance K for holding us down in the land of the Rising Sun.

Finally, if you haven't seen the July issue of Hui Music, check it out - there's a great review of our album, "Make Your Move", and an interview with the band. Thanks for keeping our album in your CD players and at the top 5 in the Island Music charts - we'll see you all at the next show!
